In this body of work, I have been combining traditional based media with digital processes and outputs. Both the qualities and characteristics of drawing and printmaking, have motivated me to focus a majority of my work in these arenas. This combination has a heightened sense of appeal to me as it reflects our current social context, how computers and the digital image have become an integral component within our lives, shaping our daily activities, language and social interactions.
The work deals with perception, pertaining to how an image is made, and how we look at it. This relates to photography without being overly graphic, finding a language that has the same logic as photography. There is an interested in drawing the viewer closer, and then potentially forcing them to think about the way that the image was made. By translating these images into painstaking drawings, it further slows time, taking weeks to finish each one.
